Urdu Church is the online church and Christian app of Good Samaritan Ministries Pakistan, founded by Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir. It carries the complete Urdu Bible, sermons, worship, Bible College and Christian education to Urdu-speaking believers in Pakistan and across the world, every day, free of charge.
Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir
Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir is a Pakistani pastor and evangelist, the Founding President of Good Samaritan Ministries Pakistan and Senior Pastor of Good Samaritan Church in Lahore.
In 2008 he developed a severe condition on both feet. It grew worse for six months, until the doctors warned that he could lose both of them. He shut the door of his room, cried out to the LORD and made a promise: “Lord, if You will heal me, I will serve You for the rest of my life.” Within a week God healed him completely.
He wanted to tell everyone what God had done. He went to pastors he knew, sat in their meetings and shared his testimony, and it was while he was speaking in one of those meetings that God gave him the vision of Good Samaritan Ministries. He told the pastors, and later his family. His father gave him the savings of twenty years. It was not a large sum, but it laid the foundation of everything that followed.
He had grown up in a family of nine with one Urdu Bible between them, taking turns to read it, so his first desire was to put the Word of God into the hands of hungry souls. He bought five Urdu Bibles and some Christian literature, prepared DVDs of the JESUS film, and began holding evangelistic meetings in villages: preaching the Word, giving away Urdu Bibles and serving the people a meal after the meeting.
From those small beginnings the ministry has, by God’s grace, placed more than 150,000 Urdu Bibles in homes and churches across Pakistan, held Gospel crusades where thousands hear the Good News in one night, planted churches in villages and cities, opened Christian schools, and trained more than a thousand pastors and leaders. Urdu Church is the newest branch of that work: the same Gospel, the same Urdu Bible and the same teaching, now in the pocket of every believer with a phone.
A church that is open every hour, in your own language
Urdu Church is not a replacement for the physical Urdu church. It never will be. The local church, its pastors and its Sunday worship remain the heart of the Christian life, and the app points people back to them.
It was born for the people the local church struggles to reach on a Sunday morning: young people who live on their phones; the Urdu-speaking diaspora in the Gulf, Britain, Europe, North America and Australia who are far from a church that speaks their language; seekers quietly looking for answers about Jesus Christ; and Christian professionals, nurses, drivers, security guards and shopkeepers, who work every day, even on Sundays, and still long to hear the Word of God.
Now they open the Urdu Bible on a night shift, listen to a sermon on the bus, study a Bible College course after the children are asleep, and send us their testimonies of what God is doing. That is the Online Daily Digital Revival Crusade: revival that does not wait for Sunday.
Live online church services in the app are coming soon, so that believers who cannot reach a church building can still worship together, hear the Word preached and pray with one another.
